Privacy Policy

In addition to complying with the Act on the Protection of Personal Information of Japan (the “Personal Information Protection Act”) and any other relevant laws, regulations and guidelines regarding the protection of personal information, City-Yuwa Partners (“City-Yuwa” or “we”) will comply with the following privacy policy:

1. Acquisition of Personal Information

We will acquire personal information by legitimate and proper means.

2. Purpose of Use of Personal Information

We will use the personal information we acquire within the necessary scope to achieve the following utilization purposes:

  1. providing legal advice and legal services, management of information, sending documents and so on, and any other communication;
  2. notification of our law firm’s information, sending greeting cards, such as New Year’s cards and season’s greetings;
  3. sending notices, including press releases, seminars, articles, and providing information by any other means;
  4. screening or contacting candidates for recruitment and personnel management after recruitment; and
  5. any other purpose incidental to those listed above.

3. Security Control Action of Personal Data

We will strive to take appropriate action for the security control of personal data in order to prevent the disclosure or loss of, tampering with, or damage or illegal access to, any personal data in our custody.

4. Provision of Personal Data to Third Parties

We will not provide any personal data we acquire to a third party except in those cases set forth in the following: 

  1. with obtaining in advance the principal’s consent;
  2. cases based on the applicable laws and regulations; or
  3. cases allowed under the Personal Information Protection Act and any other relevant applicable laws and regulations.

5. Request regarding the notification of the utilization purpose of the retained personal data, disclosure, correction, and utilization cease etc.

If we receive from an individual whose personal data we hold a request to inform the utilization purpose of that data, to disclose that data, to amend, supplement or delete that data, to temporarily suspend or permanently cease the use of that data, or to cease providing that data to a third party, then we will promptly respond to that request in accordance with the Personal Information Protection Act, after first confirming that the request is from the individual to whom the personal data relates.

EEA Privacy Policy

This EEA Privacy Policy (“EEA Privacy Policy”) applies to processing of personal data by City-Yuwa Partners in the context of City-Yuwa Partners’ offering of legal service to individuals located in the European Economic Area (“EEA”). This EEA Privacy Policy sets out how we, City-Yuwa Partners, will process as a data controller the personal data of our customers and business partners and their employees (“you”) and the measures and processes we have put in place to ensure its adequate protection in accordance with the EU General Data Protection Regulation 2016/679 (“GDPR”).

7.2 In any of the situations listed above, we may request that you prove your identity by providing us with a copy of a valid means of identification in order for us to comply with our security obligations and to prevent unauthorized disclosure of data.

We will only retain your personal data as long as necessary to fulfill the purpose for which it was collected or to comply with legal, regulatory or internal policy requirements.

9. Direct Marketing
